A different kind of painting
My wife & I collaborated to paint one of the "Lollipop Planters" created by Douglas DeVivo of Guerneville's Blue Door Gallery. We are so excited that our planter is currently hanging in the window of the gallery! We were inspired by our Chihuahua and petunias :)
Art for Life
"Laguna Colors" (9 in. x 12 in. oil) has been donated to the Art for Life auction. This auction raises money to fight AIDS, and is being held this year on September 19th at the Sebastopol Center for the Arts. Last time I donated a piece it sold; hope it will this year as well! This piece was painted in Sebastopol at the Laguna of Santa Rosa.
Hosting Jan Salisbury
Jan Salisbury lives in Guerneville & makes beautiful jewelry. She showed in my gallery for the August 1st Friday Art Walk. I tried on every single ring she brought, and finally settled on a silver band with a gorgeous Oregon Sunstone.
Oysters & Painting
My friend and fellow painter Kathleen DePuydt and I went out to Bodega Bay to enjoy two of our favorite activities not long ago: painting & eating oysters. I tried out my new cigar box painting setup. It worked out great...and the cigar boxes only cost $2 apiece!
Hosting Anita Ellis
Had such fun hosting San Francisco artist Anita Ellis in my studio for the August !st Friday Art Walk! We both sold work and had a blast!
"The Way Home" found its home!
This painting brought me so much joy, from the moment I stopped the car to snap the reference photo (on my way home), to the evening it sold, not long after it was finished. It is 24 in. by 24 in., oil on stretched canvas.

Lola's Terrace
My friend Lola lives in an attic apartment in Madrid. These types of apartments rarely go up for sale because they generally have spectacular terraces. The view from Lola's terrace is stunning at all times of day and in all weather conditions. It was so fun to paint there!
Painting on Lola's Birthday
My dear friend Lola turned 50 on June 19th, a very hot and beautiful day in Madrid. We celebrated all day. First, we painted in the Royal Botanical Garden with Lola's good friend Miriam. Then we had a delicious vegan lunch, unusual in Spain (pictured is the watermelon gazpacho). Afterwards, we went for coffee and then escaped the heat by painting in Retiro Park until the evening hours brought cooler weather.
In & Around Madrid
In between plates of awesome tapas, my friend Lola and I did manage to do lots of painting! Here are some pics from Madrid, Toledo and Segovia.
Museo Sorolla
One of my favorite places on Earth is the Museo Sorolla in Madrid, located in the former home & studio of Joaquin Sorolla. When I lived in Madrid, I spent many hours there. On my first day in Madrid this past June, I went with my friends Lola and Miriam to admire the amazing art and the peaceful gardens. After wandering around the house & studio, we spent time painting in the garden.

Gone Painting!
Sonoma County Pride
The Kuhr-Norris Studio & Gallery overlooks Main Street so it was a fantastic spot to watch Sonoma County's Gay Pride Parade!
Hanging out at the studio
Now that the school year has ended, I have more time to spend in the studio!
